Sierrah Acres is offering a one of a kind Summer Youth Program!

Sierrah Acres continues to stand behind our strong beliefs in prioritizing the personalization of each individual's experience as much as possible. This summer, each participant will be offered the opportunity to journey along a specially designed Skill-Building Trail that's tailored to their individual needs, based on age, comfort level, experience and goals. Youth will build on their successes with full support and at their own pace. This program is open to youth between the ages of 8-17.

How It Works:

We realize that attending consecutive days may not always be appropriate for everyone, and therefore offer children a choice of one full day, per week, to attend throughout the summer. Whether the decision is to experience just one or two skill-building days, or to enroll in the full seven, the choice is yours.

Our Summer Youth Program Skill-Building Trail is divided into seven phases, where each phase of the trail is built on the previous. No matter when the participant joins in, they will begin at phase one and don't miss a thing!

Please see below for our full program schedule of the themes covered for each day of the seven day Summer Youth Program: Skill-Building Trail.

Building Skills & Having Fun!

Participants are gently guided through specific life-skills topics that refer to them as humans and how that relates to our equine friends. Youth will quickly learn how to use and enhance their communication in a way that is especially necessary to connect or partner with these magnificent prey animals.

Since horses are 100% present at all times, they will give honest, non-judgmental and immediate feedback with each interaction. This special communication is learned through hands-on experience and mild metaphors, rather than lengthy verbal communications.

While having fun and learning the language of "horse," youth will learn about themselves in a whole new light, build on a foundation of self-confidence and self-efficacy, and take away valuable information into the real world.

Although much of our time is spent on individual and group interactive exercises with the horses, we will also explore a variety of other interesting and fun activities - all in a next-to-nature environment. Some other activities may include nature walks, visits to the neighbouring hobby farms, related art components, campfire conversations, and more!

Open to youth, ages 8-17 years. Program from 9:30am-to 4:30pm.

My daughter learned to set goals, challenge herself and be proud of her accomplishments every step of the way. Another important part of the camp was listening to other children’s challenges and supporting them while they met their personal goals and milestones. The camp also included nature walks, bonfires, crafts, visiting a neighbouring farm with miniature animals and learning responsibility in caring for the animals.

I cannot express enough what a positive experience this was for my daughter. She gained emotional strength and confidence through learning that other children also have challenges and fears, and in helping not only herself but others to achieve their goals.
